First the sickness and now a rocket

So many hardware and automotive stores are packed-full of Chinese tools, appliances, parts, etc, etc. The sad part is, many of those stores would not survive if they did not stock and sell Made in China "stuff". Slowly but surely, piece by piece, they are wrapping us around their finger!

I worked slinging hardware for a while at a ACE store, the Boss gave us rolls of stickers that had a US Flag and " made in the USA " on them
You were encouraged to go through the stock in your department and put stickers on the items if USA made.
About 10% of the consumers looked for them, the rest were looking at the price tag.
We are addicted to CHEAP as a nation.
There are plenty of Chinese company's that are capable of building quality products, but if the cheap shit is selling like hotcakes, why build quality?
Sometimes we are are our own worst enemy.

Could it be a new method to rapidly disperse China virus over a large area? Probably not but you can be sure it wasn't to launch a satellite for public broadband use. Had to be military and very expensive. On that note, I am pleased to see it fail so miserably. Hopefully no one will be injured in its debris path.

Closest ACE hardware store in my area closed about 3 years ago. Couldn't compete with Home Depot and Lowes. We are addicted to cheap. As with any addiction, something should have been in place to prevent it. Did we really need the 99 cent wrench that bends like lead the first time you use it or the $99 flat screen that's going to break in half the time and end up in a landfill?

Cheap imports should have been forced to meet a minimum quality and safety standard BEFORE being allowed a marketplace in the USA. Simply put, they should pay us to test things before they can sell items here and compete with domestic jobs or products. I'm not expecting top quality at a lower price but I'm also not willing to accept useless or disposable items, in exchange for all ability to produce our own quality products.

Donald, it was carrying parts to a Space Station they are building.
That part of there mission went as planned, what was not planned is the lift stage was not supposed to remain in low earth orbit.
As we get more involved in space projects, this is all only going to get worse.
Private company's are now launching private satellites.
I think it's going to get a little congested up there.

What failed? The rocket was just a spent booster that had achieved it's purpose. It put it's payload into orbit. The Chinese have a habit of not boosting their space junk into a higher orbit where it will stay or at least can be controlled upon reentry. They do not have active booster engines for controlled re-entry like the USA, Ariane or even the Russians do.

captain kilowatt spot on,

the goal was to just get their payload up to the station and not worry about their trash.
another reckless disregard for the people on earth. they were banking on the fact that earth's surface is greater than 71 percent water and in this case it landed in water but who knows on the next one.
