Flex 1500

I hope they update a fix soon. I was thinking it has to do something with the USB interface. I have USB 3.0, but not sure if the 1500 supports that yet. The 3000 uses FireWire, I believe (I thought FireWire sucked like Betamax did) oh well. The latest versions will use Ethernet, which is righteous.

I tolerate using my external keyer only because I like the receive on this thing. I am looking forward to being able to use in the internal keyer though. I ordered an HLA-150 today to give it some juice when needed.

The Flex 3000 and 5000 both use firewire. Not really a big deal. I dropped a $20 firewire card from Best Buy into my shack computer.

I think a neat thing with the Flex 1500 and USB is that you could take the 1500 and a laptop along on trips for a SDR QRP station. A small power supply for the 1500 and a coiled up dipole could fit in a laptop bag pretty easily.

Yes, that does sound like fun, but I'd have to pack along my external keyer as well.

I hope the new PowerSDR completely fixes the latency issues.

The latency is a bummer, but not a deal breaker by any means. I like the 1500 so well that I am researching on whether to buy the FLEX 3000 or 5000. If so, then I'll relegate the 1500 to digital and SWL use.
My dad is a hardcore old fashioned HAM since 1941, even he is impressed with the 1500's receiver, and he usually hates stuff made after 1960.
