I am selling a used Mirage 88 mobile. The radio is in good working order and very clean on inside. Comes with a Ranger SRA-198 noise-canceling microphone.I used my D104 and thought it sounded better. No mods other than 11 meters added. Radio is all stock No limiters cut. Low side dead keys 3 watts. Hi side dead keys 10 watts. Swings to 35 watts. Has a very nice echo board and real good receiver. Hate to part with it but need to get new Bleeder resistors for my Henry amp. Will need 12 volt power cord. Sold as is. Asking price $219.00 shipped. PayPal gift. Lower 48 states only.

Sold me a broken radio with problems that he claim was not aware off

Multiple messages to him but never took care of the situation

Almost 90 days waiting to get this situation resolve

If you don't mind saying; what is wrong with it?

1- There is a play with the volume control and is scratchy

2- The channel selector is not making good contact when you change channels

3- The frequency counter goes to a different frequency and goes back after you wiggle the channel selector

4- There are some birdies or noise from the frequency counter when is on RX mode with a dummy load or external antenna

I know is a used radio but the above problems where not mentioned in the sale ad

The radio came in a double box and well protected wrapped in bubble wrap,I do not believe all the issues or problems are related to shipping

The box where the radio came in is in good shape, not distorted nor bend or out of shape, does not seem to been dropped in transit by the post office

These comments were made via pm message to cbkidd1 back in October

Not saying the radio you purchased is good or not good or not as you describe it to be.

The above mentioned problems apparently are common on anything with an 88 in it, Mirage,Northstar, or Galaxy.

Anything with an 88 in it seems to have design issues or flaws.

I refuse to even put anything with an 88 on the bench to even "check it out".

On the other hand have sought and still do find from time to time Galaxy SSB 3600 chassis and then restore them. Even still have a couple of 88's as well. I only paid around $60-$80 for them; but they were also in far worse shape than the one you got - too.

Any of these 3600 chassis radios that have a built-in freq counter have the birdie issue described by Technicoloco. It is a simple fix that Galaxy pointed out in their list of service bulletins. IOW - to add a bypass cap to remove that very noise source to ground. Only way to solve it is to do just that OR to move the offending wire to another location to keep that noise from leaking in due to its proximity. See CB Tricks for the details - BTW.

A worn pot is not something that should have been left out of the description - IMO. A scratchy, wobbly pot should be replaced. Had to do that to a Superstar 3900, which uses the basic 3600 chassis design too. Clearly a sign of long term use. You might also still be able to take it apart and repair/clean it if it isn't too far gone.

A dirty or worn channel selector switch is also a sign of long term use. However it can still be cleaned and then retested.

Otherwise, it looks pretty clean considering its long use period.

Hello Robb:

I understand but all these problems where not mentioned on the sale add otherwise I will hesitate to purchase a radio that need to get some work done for the asked price

That is my point

Is not a working radio,is a radio that needs to be fix in order to work and as described

To clarify the situation,

This is the first time I've been on since the end of November.

First off, I've sold him numerous items within the last year and even was nice enough to wait for him to send cash via mail. He has never had any complaints about my items until now. I HAVE NEVER SOLD ANYTHING THAT DID NOT WORK TO ANY ONE EVER.

My listing which you can see above, I did mention it was working order but also sold as is. Yes, I did not mention that the volume control was loose, but it did not effect the sound or turning it on or off so I forgot to mention it and didn't see it as a big deal.

Also, I did research before I posted it for sale about the freq. counter being slow to catch up with the channel selector when being changed and found out from the forum that it comes from the factory like that. It does catch up within two to three seconds. Therefore, I didn't mention that because it was a normal thing and came like that.

If the buyer had researched also, he would have read the same information and made a more sound decision when buying.

Before it left here, it worked fine in transmit and receive. I got numerous radio checks. As far as receive goes, there was no noise and it was quiet. The radio was in working order when it left.

After he received it, that is when he made complaints about these things being wrong. I told him to try cleaning the channel selector but apparently that was too much work and he responded with "You can not clean the channel selector unless is taken apart and is a pain, just more easy to replaced than trying to fix it". He then proceeded with giving me a price list on the replacement parts (volume control and rotary switch with complete board) that he thought it needed even though it was sold as is.

I told him in my email that I didn't think that I should have to pay for the parts because he felt like it was an issue but being the honest person that I am, I did agree to pay for the parts $40 when my tax advance came in but there was a delay in getting them until December (which was a little later than what I initially told him).

In between this time, during the first week of December, I was electrocuted by my Henry 2KD5 amplifier, which left me with two holes and third degree burns and put me in the hospital for a few weeks. I just recently got out and am now just reading this. Sorry if that isn't as important as the $40 that you desperately need.

If you do not believe the above, I'll be more than happy to send photos of my burns.

Also, I don't appreciate being stalked and threatened on Mauldroppers via message. My daughter and wife got on to get some help on a new radio that they purchased for Christmas and that was the first thing that they saw.

Why would you feel the need to post personal information about me that has nothing to do with this? FYI, that information isn't even right and isn't even me. LOL.

My intentions were to get on here to send you the $40 tonight after getting ahold of you because I am an honest person and I did tell you I would pay for it but that is hard to do when in the hospital and even harder to want to do after reading all this.

So now, where would you like your funds sent to?

What was a good transaction relationship of me selling to you has now soured and I will never deal with you again. Have a Happy New Year.

Also, I just logged into Mauldroppers where he has posted on the thread calling me a scumbag and also tried to give out my personal information but failed since that is not even me. Not to mention he didn't even give an accurate account of the transaction and made it seem like I am untrustworthy and trying to ruin my reputation. Would someone please give me a reason as to why I should still send him the funds after reading all this stuff he is posting bad about me? I could not respond or send the funds as I was in the hospital.
