i picked up a Elenco F-1300 frequency counter and a B&K model-161 transistor beta tester at a swap meet for $50
I want to make sure the frequency counter is aligned. So I was thinking because my Kenwood TS-2000 has a TCXO crystal in it is there any reason i cant take a reading off a test point on that and zero in the Elenco F-1300 frequency counter.?????
and if so any one know where the test point is?

Robb that's a good video but i do not have a feq generator yet. it was one of the things i was keeping my eyes open for.

hmm the Crystal in it is 10mhz and i see TCXO at 10MHz on line for $25
looking around i see some one did this mod..

what do you guts think?

I'll stick to my first reply; that is the right answer.
Just learn how to do it.

I use a 10mhz Rubidium clock (+/- 1hz accuracy) to keep my test freq counters right on the money. So do others that work on radios. But if you are going to do it right; then save up a ~$100 to get a decent, used freq counter. The right tool for the right job . . .

Ok well i don't have the gear to do it that way.. so it is not a matter of "Just learn how to do it." i was hopping the Elenco counter was a good one. so i guess i lost out.

as for $100 for a decent used freq counter all the counters i have seen look no better then what i have now. Every place i look wants $200 to $500 for an HP
Times for me are hard and money is hard to come my over on this end so.
Thanks for the help.
