Friends that just don't understand why you like radio so much.

Any of you like me?
I have many friends that just don't understand my enjoyment of CB/Amateur radio.
I have tried to give them equipment to use hoping it would spark some interest in the hobby, but it never worked.

I guess some people are radio people and the majority of folks are not.

Yes a lot of my friends don't get it, I have lost count of how many times I have herd "you can use a phone you know".

While entertaining one night with a bunch of friends standing around the fire bucket with guts full of piss they decided that our place is now called the dish, named after the Aussie movie "the Dish"-great movie btw.

Most of friends aren't Cbers and they are amazed that I can talk across the country out of my truck and base setups.
What they really don't understand is why the Cbers on channel 6 have to scream and yell into their microphones.
To each his own.

I have been into radio for 35 years and I still don't understand.

Is that the one with Sam Neill about the NASA ground station in the middle of nowhere? I loved the part when they accidentally moved the dish and had no idea how to realign it back up with the spacecraft. Then one guy had a brainstorm. "Wait...they are going to the moon aren't they" Then let's point the dish at the moon!" :w00t: Your are right.Good movie.
