I just got my new FT1900R yesterday and hooked it up to play. I was reading the manual to see how one would do a tone search with it to find the pl tone on a repeater. I activated the CTCSS like manual says and then when listening to a repeater I press the P3 button momentarily but it does not scan for the CTCSS.

Does anyone own a FT 1900R and can explain what I need to do this scan?

I guess I am just so used to Icom's manuals because they are all I owned in the past.

Thanks,
AP

I been trying and trying for hours with no luck, I am done with this radio. I can tell you this, I am not buying another yaesu if this is how all there manuals are.

If it makes you feel any better, none of the other manufacturer's manuals are any better. Is this a brand new radio or a used one? I'm wondering if someone didn't program P3 to do something else? Try doing a complete reset to make sure everything is set back to default and try it again?

tone scan

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that you need to scan the repeater input in order to determine the tone that triggers the repeater.

Yea I do need to scan the repeater input but what I was saying is I can not get the darn thing to scan it.

I played with it some more after I cooled down and got it working. I got to just learn to walk when things get me frustrated.
