full Alignment

WOW tre' embarrassante'!
I read this as TRC-485.

please disregard my last post everyone. DOH!
thanks Sonoma.

Ryan,
your final could be blowing from a bad alignment, but more likely is that C179 has shorted.

It's a tiny blue tantalum cap near the driver and final.
remove it, and replace it with an electrolytic capacitor of the same value.
this is a common fault in this radio.
apologies if this has already been suggested.
LC
HI I replaced all the electrolytic and tantalum caps

Then:
Go over and check all solder joints
Clean all pots
Re-grease all mounted IC's heat sinks
Then . . . send it to a shop for alignment if you don't have the alignment gear

Pretty much what should be done anyway . . .

  • @ Geoexplorer69:
Coax question. I just put up a new Sirio monsoon base antenna with 100’ of rg8u coax testing with myMFJ antenna analyzer shows 1.4 swr at 26.965mhz and a 1.1 at 27.405 mhz . When I checked the ohms it’s steady a 30 ohms across the entire bandwidth.
  • @ Geoexplorer69:
Is 30 ohms worth worrying about in a 100’ run of rg8u ?
