Funny but...OUCH


He built it himself and is stating the condition as "Manufacturer refurbished". :lol: The last thing I would want to buy on Ebay is a homebrew amp especially a solidstate amp that had 110 watts of drive. :blink:
 
if it did not have a driver, and if it was like a 16 pill... then MAYBE you could run 110 watt into it...

I mean on my 4 pill I ran 18 watts swing into it (MRF455 x 4) and it seemed really happy that's about 4.5 watts per pill

so 18 x 4 = 72. but the 2sc2879 'takes' more drive, so 110 into 16 pills would be almost 7 watts per pill... BUT 110 into 4 pills... that 27.5 watts per pill. I mean that is over 25% of the pills rated OUTPUT...

BUT the guy is hitting the 2sc2290 driver with 110 watts, the 2sc2290 is only rated for 60 watts out. so he is hitting it with close to double the drivers output. I bet that thing sounds terrible

I would not hit it with more than 5 or 6 watts myself, even then, I would rather just bypass the driver
 
Class C junk... worthless garbage as it sits. However, for 50 bucks I'd take it off his hands and put some biasing on it and clean it up a bit... Might be salvageable. Who knows? :confused1:

It's clowns like these that give the guys like me a bad rep... and the people like me take the hit for the idiots. *sigh* /rant off

1 - 2 sc2290 driving 4 - 2sc2879's ; this amp will produce 800 to 1000 watts on a Dosy TC-4002-SW test center with a Galaxy Radio swinging 40 watts ; it was shown on the picture with a Stryker 440 10 meter rig doing 1500 ; with the diode mod swinging 110 watts into it ; all sales on this are final as all amateur radio equipment ; pictures tell the story ; Improper connections over driving and high swr can ruin a amp very easily and quickly ; unit has been in operation since man that built it refurbished a voltage rectifier 5 months ago and still in operation with the Stryker440 driving! / Also has a 15 db. receive pre-amp that works as should; Low and high switch changes dead key only ; still swings same top end.
This guy charges 720.00 for these NEW!

Some messaged me about the drive which is at 110 only when you jack the modulation up anyways ; that reading was mike gain maxed out ; I normally run at 9 to 10 oclock ; averaging around 55 to 60 swing in and 1000 to 1100 out ; circuit must allow for this ; never runs hot ; but I don't hammer and abuse my amps either ; talked all around the world on this one!If my equipment does not perform as it should I have 2 local techs that I can use ; all my stuff looks and performs as new ; had this amp since previous owner sold out and had just got it back from replacing a voltage rectifier 5 months ago ; I have been running it for 5 months now with NO problems whatsoever ; email me if you need any more info;Thanks!
Long story short ; I have never sold on ebay before ; shipping may be a little less than it should after checking with post office yesterday ; I will eat that ; will not be re-listed ; If no one is interested ; I will keep it ; I know what I have better than anyone's opinion on it ; everybody has one ; I have been in radio since 1967 and know how to run my equipment and what their limitations are ; and if I push them ; I have repaired ; but this and another tube type I own are like the energizer bunny ; simple as that ; have a wonderful day.

I was going to send him a message about it but figured it would be like talking common sense to a brick wall.
 
you're a duck if you don't drive your 60 watt 2290 driver with 110 watts :D

The only thing I would hit that amp with is a ten pound sledge hammer. :D
