Here's the official thread to post funny stuff you've heard on the ham bands. It doesn't have to be technical or radio related; just funny. Don't make it up, but if you heard it or said it yourself, post it up.

Heard tonight on 146.52:

"People are always worried about their signal getting into their speakers, stereo, tv, etc. To me, if you're getting into your neighbors TV, that just means you're getting out better. I mean, if you turn on your linear, you're going to put out more power which means you're going to bleed into stuff. If your neighbors can hear you on their speakers, it means you're getting out better".

Wow.

Also heard on 146.52 tonight (same guy as above post):

"All that stuff that people say about 5/8 wave aluminum ground plane verticals being better than better than a plain old 1/2 wave vertical is a bunch of baloney. Take CB antennas, as an example: Noone has ever proved why an Antron 99 is any worse than any of the way more expensive 5/8 wave antennas with the ground planes. In my book adding all those ground planes and extending the antenna to be longer to make it 5/8 wave is just a waste of money. I'll take a plain old 1/2 wave vertical over all those others any day."

Don't recall the exact frequencies, but I was listening to a couple guys on a rag chew yesterday on 20 meters, the one station was in Oklahoma, and he obviously had his speech processor turned up a little too high, but no one else in the group bothered to say anything to him. Then I heard a station call "Break" between transmissions. They invite him in and the new station (from Michigan) informs this guy from Oklahoma that he's splattering 100 Khz path all the way up to Michigan, and every time he inhales they can hear his nose hairs vibrate over on the frequency his group was using....

The Oklahoma station then realised he had hit his processor control by accident and knocked his ALC way up, apologised for the splatter, and made the required adjustments. It was all very polite and professional, but the comment about hearing his nose hairs vibrate when he inhaled was classic......

Heard a "Winter Texan" complain about all the mexicans in Texas. He said that he would hang a taco on his antenna and drive north until someone asks what it was, and that's where he would live!

I love tacos so he won't live here.lol

A now silent key was an endless source of laughs with his commentary.

A long discussion on his poor health...

"My doctor says I have to stop drinking Coke"

Wow, that's unusual..

"Yeah, he says I drink too much"

Oh yeah, how many do you drink?

"Oh, two or three."

That doesn't sound that bad, he really said that?

"Yeah"

Only two or three Cokes a day?

"Oh no, wait a minute, I meant *twelve packs*"

Guy drank two or three twelve packs of Coke a day and was diabetic. I almost drove off the road laughing.

Same guy, another day, I'm tuning around and hear

"O.k. well, I don't know, I still don't see them"

Did you get a flashlight yet?

"Well I shook it really well and they didn't come out"

Another guys asks "What are you doing?"

"Oh, I think I have roaches in my radio."

Almost wrecked again...

them Mexicans aren't exclusive to Texas, they've made their way all over the U.S.A.....
