I just picked one up yesterday. Going to run it for talking local on the base. Looks great. Love the meter and the blue lighting.

Ive been running a DM 452 and a D104 for base. Red Devil in the truck. Great radio!

I mean the way it lights up in the dark. Lettering looks blue. Got it brand new so it was not messed with. What are you guys running your DK at? Mine is 30 all the way up. Would like to raise it to 45 or so but it gets hot as it is.

Some say 30 watts is the max you want to set the dead key at while others say 50. I myself run mine at 30. They do tend to get way to hot if you talk alot and thats the only thing i dont like about them.

I usually set them for between 30 and 40, depending on what PEP I see out of the specific radio.

Im going to run mine for base only. I found a lasko squirrel cage fan at lowes. Run it facing foward behind radio. Works great. 13 bucks

I did that mod for the on and off switch for the built in amp. Keys 1 watt swings to 10??? I thought i would see around 50 like most other exports but i almost fell out of my chair after i saw the meter reading

Nope, you wont see much more than that from a low key. In fact, if you see 120, thats actually more than should be there. from 1 watt, 4 or 5 is what should be there. Keep in mind this is NOT a dual-final radio when the amp is taken out of the picture. the amp doesn't need a very high drive to operate effectively.

No, its pretty easy. You just insert a switch inline with one of the amp control lines that plugs in over near the final/driver area. I don't have the specific connector number handy atm.

Can this mod be done to a Ranger 6900f 150 ?

Or a connex 4600 turbo
