there is no bad ,if the price is good and it works ,buy it .they are highly regarded radios and work very well.50 watts peak power .loud modulation if tuned correctly.

well, consider that refurbs are being sold for $280. sometimes they slip thru the cracks on ebay and go for anywhere in the neighborhood of $100-$300. if i could get one for less than $200 that was in excellent condition, i think i would cop that. :D

I don't really care too much for the EPT-3600 based Galaxy radios. That is an older generation board with more issues than it's replacement, the EPT-6900 board. Radios with this newer board are more frequency stable than the older ones. So if I wanted a used Galaxy mobile, I'd be looking more for a 93 or a 95, or maybe one of the newer mosfet models like the 94 or 98.

For a used 99, I wouldn't give more than 75 to 100 bucks for one, and it had better be CLEAN as hell. But that's just me.

The 'Flying Dutchman' - a member on this site - has a 'NIB' Galaxy 99V for $230. Send him a PM. I have a 99V in my mobile. I am very impressed with it over the last year that I've owned mine...

The Galaxy 99 is a decent old school radio, there are many newer radio's that can easily outperform them. Expect 30-40 honest peak watts. They have a nice big meter and freq counter, talk exellent on AM, and are so so on SSB. They do drift on SSB a bunch if you live in a winter weather area. I love the old dual 1969 final radio's though, if the price is right go for it.

They are great radios...I have 2. One is NIB and one is completely revamped (since when I got it, it looked like a train wreck) with a new face, chrome cases, blue lights all around, blue nitro knobs, a switch for talkback, a switch for a Rolling Radios custom Mod, and a switch for TopGun modulator. Its a bad machine, let me tell you!

The NIB one is also nice...I plan on keeping it that way. She's a gem...a great talker too!

A local shop here in Dallas had one for sale on Black Friday that was a referb 99, and I bought it for $175! The thing Looks New, and after I had a Modulation Mod done to it, the thing is louder than my Galaxy 93t!

It swings to 40w's (compared to my 93t that swings to 60w's) But is much louder, and clearer sounding...

Before the sale, the shop was selling the radio for $285 + another $25 for the conversion...

If the one your looking at is a Referb, and it's under $250 in price, "Jump on it!"...You won't be able to tell it from Ban New, and they still have the factory warenty...

I'm waiting on the Top Gun compressor to arrive - before I put it in with the Top Gun modulator I already have for it. Very nice radio - so I decided to mod mine like yours - Dutchman!
