I am obtaining one of these radios and want to direct inject it. I did it to my Cobra 142 GTL some time ago and I have done the mod on a few Cobra 29's. Can someone help me with instructions for the 2527? I cant seem to find anything online by searching. Thanks so much for your help.

Were you able to find any Galaxy instructions during your online searching?

Direct Injection for RCI 2950/70

C298 on the 50/70 series

To direct inject a 2950/70, remove C298.
Mount an RCA jack in the back of the radio, running a shielded wire to the C298 location.

Connect the center conductor only through a 2.2uF mylar or non-polar electrolytic, connecting the other end of the cap to where C298 used to be.

Use the hole that connects to the junction of C298 and R278.

HiFi Mods for TX & RX

2950, 2970, 2527, DX22b etc. (ept295013z) mods

Receive:

Change C45 and C48 to 2.2uF mylar or non-polarized electrolytic
Remove C47
Change C224 to a 2.2uF, 25 volt electrolytic or Tantalum. Observe polarity
Change C221 and C222 to 2.2uF mylar or non-polarized electrolytic

Transmit:

Change C155 and C141 to 10uF, 16 volt Tantalum. Observe polarity
Change C240 and C298 to 2.2uf mylar or non-polarized electrolytic

Sideband/FM Transmit:
Change C131 and C136 to 2.2uF mylar or non-polarized electrolytic

Note: For the transmit to have full width, the audio in/out wires on the echo board (one wire from J2 and one from J3) have to be disconnected and jumped together, bypassing the echo board.

What voltage?

25 or 50 Volts and up will work

Mylar capacitor is preferred

But 2 polarized 4.7uF/50V back to back or in series will make a 2.2uF non-polar out of Electrolitic or Tantalum capacitors + and + or - and - tied

Thanks. I ended up putting a 50 volt Mylar cap in line. After a little adjusting, I have it sounding great! Thank you so much!!

FOR RIDGERUNNER0788
Try this - with a Standard Earphone jack - MONO type - with a N.C. Contact designed to short or bypass - see below, when installing - pay attention to what is shown.

DX2547Injection.jpg

R262 is in the middle of two capacitors - C171 and C235 (Verify) with a Resistor - that R262 of 10K - this forms a series filter circuit with some attenuation as well as tonal effect. The two caps series like this reduces their VALUE TO 1/2 their stamped value - rating them at 50% of original - when you install the circuit - the Normally Closed Contact has R262 in series with the closed side of contact - the plug inserted into the jack with have CENTER live - and needs to go to the side of C235 at R262 Location. - for Audio to FLOW to C235 and AM Regulator ok? This defeats SSB modes for direct inject - so you must pull out the earphone out of the jack to restore original condition and use regular Mic on front panel of the radio for SSB ok? FM is affected too - we'll talk more about that later...

The C171 prevents DC voltages from "backfeeding" into the IC7 - 4558 IC - and C235 prevents the same from affecting the AM Regulator and damaging it. R262 is put in line (Series) to the Earphone Jack - CENTER LIVE that is normally closed - when you insert the Earphone into the jack a special contact forces open a wiper and then attaches the Earphone TIP (Center) to the other contact that returns to C235's side of R262 ok? This goes back to the old days of portable radios with built in speakers that had an Earphone jack that sent audio to the headphone and killed the speaker. Let you listen privately. That is what you are doing here too...

I thought this was for the 2547 not the 2950
The 2527 NOT 2547. This radio has been discontinued for years. It has the old orange face 2950 board in it. I have had one since the late 90s when I bought it new. Love it, great rig.. have worked the world with it. Below is a pic of one.. (not my unit) just a pic I found online. Although I do run an echo max on mine occasionally.. or the old D104. . Always gets good audio reports. 377e2d572105fff8be802a7c8392923a.jpg
