Galaxy radio drift

What I'm trying to get to the bottom of, without generating a whole bunch of stirred up nests; is some real conversation with others about a drift inherent in oscillators...

I just don't want to turn it into a circus.

I want to talk to people that have used radios like the HR2510 or TS-5010

These radios use VFO knobs and have a separate reference RIT with fixed frequency display based on a ROM - not tied to a frequency counter - so no matter what kind of radio anyone will use, there will be drift - so what you are doing is commendable - just don't get caught up in todays Social Justice Warrior stuff. IT's hard to find the nuggets of gold when you have an entire mountain of rocks to rummage thru.

This will be the only conversation I have about conduct - it's not my area - it's the Moderators.

I can just bail out if it gets that bad.

If any of you remember lbcomms, she used to hang out on CBtricks back then and designed a similar unit using a PIC...so there's nothing new here...IF you wish to invite her please welcome her here, we do miss her when she's gone.

if any of you have access, you can try and look for lbcomms back on CBTricks -

Greets from Sydney is the title of the thread I believe

Although I'd love to explore that option she showed us on CBT-we have others that all of you have missed...

I save that for later...

Are we going to get back on how to "fix drifting issues" or do I just need to go elsewhere?

Indeed and I do not wish this to become any MORE of a circus than it already has. It seems that some people just get too bent out of shape about some things and strangely enough it seems mostly from a member that only joined the day before, It's almost as if he has been here under a different name and is using a second account to post. In any event the bickering and arguing should tone down a bit or the inevitable will happen and this is too good of a thread to have that happen. I would have jumped in here earlier however I am a working man with a real and actual life and that life sometimes ends up in the tank for a few days at a time and I cannot be every where all the time. Nuff said.

I sent Sue another message just a few minutes ago. the last time I talked to her was Feb 5th of this year. so since winter is coming on down in her area she may have time to come over to this forum. last time I talked to her was the busy time of the year for them in her area.

I remember Sue did something to a radio and clamped a crystal oven on the crystal of a radio and there was no more drift. I believe she even posted a picture.

I'm just about finished the shielded isolation cans for the three leaky components.

Nomad and Handy Andy, I just heard back from Sue. she said they lost a full time tech at their shop and she has been very busy with radio repairs etc in the shop. just so happens she is building some items for the ssb radio drift since SSB is all that is used in her country. she said she will be posting the info on the other forum when she gets all the parts in and in working order. I will let you all know what she comes up with after she does get it all together and posted.
every one that knows her has a high opinion of what she does to a radio. she is one of the best I have ever seen. she can turn a 23 channel radio into a unit with more channels than you would ever need and for just a few dollars.

I'm afraid Sue might be fading out of the CB game.

I spoke with her earlier this year in an attempt to connect her with Mark19960 since they were both working on somewhat similar projects.

she went to youtube and watched a few of his videos, complimented how adept and knowledgeable he was, but said she really didn't have time to participate.

I think that when CBtricks started slowing down she stopped showing up.

Sonoma, if she responds to you, please let her know how many of us have moved over here. it might help if she knew some of the same people.

already told her a lot of the guy's from cbtricks is here. she is working on a fix for the SSB drift and is waiting on parts to build what she is doing. she told me today she is very busy since the one tech left for the UK to take care of a sick family member. that has made it where she has to fill the gap. they do commercial radio business , which is the main business they do. cb radios is just a side line for them. she told me when she was able to post a lot she was doing more of the admin work and now she has to do tech work also.
she said she will post on the other site what she does to correct the problem with SSB drift. will keep you guy's informed when she does post over there. will see if she will let me post what she does here when she gets done.
I had talked to her on feb 5th of this year and she was very busy then since it was spring over where she lives. she is a great person for sure.

This is a heater I bought about 4 or 5 years ago. Made by someone in the Ukraine. It only solved part of the problem so I took it out of one of my radios before I sold it. It came with a piece of yellow heat shrink to fasten it to the crystal.

There sure are a lot of wet shoes in this thread.
Way to pat yourself on the back Larry A.M.

I also credited the source of the photos and information I used in Post #20.
