Galaxy Saturn problem

Hello again, started messing with this radio again, changed the voltage regulator and now the display comes on and it recieves bit only with the echo switch on, transmit just squeals through the speaker, flip the echo off and the display goes off and RX goes away

A look at the schematic reveals that the echo and the transmit input from the mike are not connected. Likewise the echo switch has no connection whatever to the counter display. The only way that switch can make a difference to the those functions is for something to connect them together.

Something that's not on the radio's schematic diagram.

That’s some good info, I’ll look into that, thank you

If it was me, just saying! I would undo whatever you had done to make the freq counter come on with the echo switch. Basically start from scratch. When I had this issue with the freq counter display going blank, I discover some open circuits between the components of the freq counter board and the board itself. I re-soldered some of the pins in the back of the board. And I had to add some jumpers where I questioned the board traces. The display came back and hasn't failed since but I was still questioning myself if I should do more soldering on the board, but since it was still working I figured I will leave it alone until farther failures occur. This was my experience anyway. I hope you get it working either way... these galaxy can be a frustrated, that I know!

Sorry I just realized how old this thread actually is. Well my intentions were good!

Coax question. I just put up a new Sirio monsoon base antenna with 100’ of rg8u coax testing with myMFJ antenna analyzer shows 1.4 swr at 26.965mhz and a 1.1 at 27.405 mhz . When I checked the ohms it’s steady a 30 ohms across the entire bandwidth.
  • @ Geoexplorer69:
Is 30 ohms worth worrying about in a 100’ run of rg8u ?
