Hello Gang,
I have a Galaxy Saturn Turbo that is experiencing low output power on AM and SSB. I have disconnected the amp so I can verify the main board 1st. On AM i am getting ~1 watt and SSB about 2.5 watts. I do have 6 volts am 13 volts SSB at the collectors of the driver and final. The variable power knob does not change the output power. I am using the alignment procedures of the RCI 2970 (non DX) as I am unable to locate one for the Turbo. Actually, there is not that much info on the turbo at all.

Any thoughts as to why the low output power and the variable power knob not making any changes? I would think they are related.

Thanks as always!!

the only service manual for a galaxy I have is the old one. the turbo I do not have . I have used the galaxy 2527 for repairs of the turbo in the past. it has been about 15 years or longer since I messed with the turbo.
hope one of the other guys will chime in on this one.

RCI2990. That one IS a turbo on the inside. A post-1995 Turbo.

Galaxy DX22B and DX2527 are post-1995 'barefoot' versions.

There was a major production change in 1995. The computer was redesigned from the original two circuit board setup with a backup battery for the memory, to a single display and CPU board. Had a 100uf electrolytic cap on it for memory storage. They said it stored enough to hold memory for a week. The mileage on that claim can vary. A lot.

The original pre-1995 RCI DX2970 is close, except for the power supply and front-panel/meter wiring.

The Turbo was imported by a different outfit. Never did have a manual printed. Same story for the Eagle 5000. Imported by that store that dares not be mentioned.
