I have a General Lee here Im tinkering with. The radio is loosing receive and transmit. When you key the mic the RX/TX led will not change color. Its not a mic problem as Ive tried several different mics and it still does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated!

And is this into a dummy load or an antenna? If antenna, check all your connectors and coax for any issues.

from the way I read this you say it loses RX and TX. so this makes me think the radio will work then stop working after it is on for a while. if this is right check for bad solder joints in the PLL and crystal areas. check what Robb stated to verify it has not lost power. if all is good reflow the solder in the areas I mentioned. also the regulator areas.
best if you explain exactly what the radio does as far as if it works then stops working. here is what you said about the radio.

Cheech, I am going to echo what Sonoma said and ask it again, have you LOST rx/tx all the time or does the problem occur intermitently or once the radio warms up.?

You could try gently "poking about" (non-conductive tool) on the solder side of the p.c. board while the radio is turned on, and pay attention for the status led / rx to come back; perhaps you can isolate a cold solder joint with this method.

Does it after the radios has been on. Ive had radios do this where the pll side of the board had a bad connection but this one the transmit led is not turning red during transmit when the problem occurs. I seem to recall that being related to something else but I cant remember what now.

bad solder joint at the PLL and crystal area can cause this. if you are looking for a part causing this you more than likely will be out of luck. check for broken trace or bad solder joints. after heat up you are losing a connection
