Best install of a mobile (not handheld, per se) favors any radio available.

Even if you can see the other person does not mean you will be able to communicate with tha person. Very poor radio system design.

GMRS is more reliable when the noise level is high during skip periods on CB. GMRS is even better yet if you're able to sign up with a local repeater covering that particular area. If you're thinking about a pair of talkies for hunting etc, long telescopic CB whips don't fair very well among trees.

Mobile to mobile CB would be the ticket, except as sunbulls mentioned: when QRM is at s9.

For HTs it's another story all together and I'd choose VHF over both CB and GMRS (if an option for the application).

This is what I have and I was wondering what mobile to buy. Would an anytone 5555 communicate with both? I have no need now but would be nice to have in a shtf situation.
