You can't go wrong with the YAESU FT857d, I have one, it works great for three years, and be sure to get the mars mod with it, for you know what<11>, you wont need to own anything else..

where can i find a good price on one of these

You don't so much as want a good price as you want a good example of that radio...

20M serial number is the ideal and most sought after. They fixed a number of persnickety issues by then.

A very very clean example with the TS-930 wide filter in it, will fetch at the very least $900 and one went on ebay unmodified for $1200 the other day.

They are a great radio, particularly with a little work for ESSB use.

They do have their issues and some of the parts are not available though....but the design of the radio is such that you can replace modules if need be and most basic components are through-hole and relatively easy to get to.

Be very wary, lot of people sell dead or broken 940s out there....
