Not deer ....Zombie Invaders. I use a 308 for deer. 125 lbs. ? that's a baby, did it have any spots?:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Now down here in TEXAS...........:D
That's 125 lbs of de-boned freezer wrapped meat.
Don't try to B.S. me about Texas deer, a deer that weighs 125 lbs live weight are few and far between. Unless you are talking about Mule Deer, Texas Whitetail deer most probably need night lights. The Texas hill country deer are fairly small unless you are hunting on a managed area.

Awl right ....you got me. Yes, you are right. I confess, I told a Texas sized lie. But in my defense I'm from Louisiana, and the deer around St. Francisville ( man, I miss that place), are much much bigger than any of the Texas deer...except the mulies. Best eating here in Texas is the Axis, an imported species that until recent was considered invasive. They are running the white tail out. But now considered exotic. So Texas requires exotic tag to hunt. All about the $$$$$$'s. Out in Bracketville, Tx. there are herds of them, huge. But the white tail look pathetic due to habitat being overrun by the Axis which breed 2~3 times as fast as white tail. I can tell you I have come face to face (10 feet) with a Buck Axis with a spread of over 6 foot and weighing well over 300#. Damned near ran over me. Thank God he saw me, ain't never seen an animal clear mesquite thicket like that before.....like a damned bulldozer. Check out Fort Clark Springs out in Bracketville. Neat piece of history. A.J. Foyt used to own a house there.

My sons ranch shares a fence with big game ranch and the Axis deer is shot on sight if out side the game ranch. The locals out there did not want a "Big Game Ranch" in the area because of the invasive species effects. There are bumper stickers all over the place out there that say's "Save Your White Tails, shoot the Axis"

Spent a month out at Fort Clark with camper during Harvey. Poor Whitetails out there need some culling. But first need to cull Axis. They are rampant. Over populated. Counted over 50 roaming the campground one evening. They are everywhere. The local residents feed the Deer and Axis. Unfortunately they feed anything from cat and dog food to bread. Anything at all. This diet is killing the deer. Fort Clark has stands for rent on a lottery system. $300 a day, and they say they dropped the price. Laughs there. I hope Texas Wildlife and Fisheries will step in and asses like LDWF does. LDWF will go out and asses and issue doe tags. We had 214 one year for being part of DMAP. Once culled down only then can you manage properly.

My uncle owned land in Colorado that he setup for Day leases. All kills had to be registered during a mandatory search check out. One hunter was coming in with his truck heavily loaded and was really excited. When the game warden looked in back of the truck he let loose a string of profanities that made my uncle blush.(Very hard to do!)
The driver popped out of the cab all proud and full of himself, saying that is the damned biggest mule deer I ever seen. The idiot was fined for killing a non-game species,
he had shot a Pack Mule that had run away from a guide service.

Here's the last North Carolina Pack Mule I shot with my .35 Whelen.

Wonder if there is a 35 Whelen in an AR platform? There is AR-10 (7.62x51). Or is that Grendle 6.8 close to the Whelen ?
