Ham licence

You should be able to find a local club fairly close to you (unless you're not near a decent sized city). Use Google. Find out when/where they meet each month, show up, and let them know you're interested in getting your license. Many times you'll hear Hams using 11 meters and can get information from them that way.

It's good to actually learn the stuff that you'll take an exam on, BUT - you can easily memorize the question pool using any variety of online test's to pass your exam. I'd recommend going straight for a General class license and by-pass the Technician. Too many guys lose interest while being a Technician class Ham and just drop out.

In my particular case it was easy because I was working with a guy who was an Amateur and he ended up being my "Elmer".
