Ham Radio Question

FT8
I just can't bring myself to do it .
I understand. My Elmer is the same way but I'm working on him.

I'm not a rag chewer and I don't operate SSB. I like to chase DX and work contests. I would prefer a CW contact but I'll take what I can get.

Truth be known , I can find out a good bit of information about an antenna from leaving the machine to run FT8 for a few days.

I just don't consider those to be contacts. Because I don't QSL or confirm in any way I'm sure there's some ham upset with me for wasting his time on a drive by QSO that got no acknowledgement.

I have used other digital modes that are a bit more conversational as well as an occasional CW contact. An important distinction here. My ear is weak and out of practice. My fist is even worse so I'm doing everyone a favor by skimming and answering from the kybd. I do get the occasional "sry don't work machines" but it's rare.

Most likely use of CW is in, on, around the old novice haunts where it's possible some old die hard is rock bound and calling CQ on the same frequency, off and on for hours.
I'll dump the contents of the keyer on the line and wait for return. I've made some fun contacts that way. Even after admitting to the kybd most are happy just for the contact.

I have most common responses"canned" as actual switching or as wave files. My CW Tx/Rx more resembles Stephen Hawking's .voice screen with a SDR waterfall for receive. It wasn't always that way...

I work on FT8, because ssb/cw 5b300+ confirmed long time ago. Not much to do nowadays on human modes.
But now I have 308 CFM on FT8, WAS, WAZ and hard for new one.

I watch for your call on the SSB clusters. Now I know why I never see it.
