Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) volunteers are continuing to fill communication gaps for local emergency managers and responding agencies, as part of the response to the gigantic Rim Fire.

As of last night the fire is now 192,466 acres & 30% contained.
HWY 120 is still closed and all that traffic is being routed through the HWY 140 Entrance Via Mariposa.
I was talking to some of the support crew yesterday working out of the Mariposa Airport and they said they are slowely getting a handle on the fire.
Last week with the help of the Red Cross we sent several several hundred dollars worth of Batterys, Flashlights, Insect Repellent, and other supplys up to the Firefighters working the fire line.
This has been one of the worst fire seasons I can remember with little rain during the spring and the dry conditions all summer.
