Has anybody considered doing this, power a big tube amp with....

One end of the MOT's HV winding will be grounded to the transformer frame. Probably with a pop rivet. Depending on how it's built, getting that wire loose from the frame ground might be no big deal. Some of them I have seen make it tough to insulate that wire from ground properly. I have seen large globs of RTV silicone applied to that wire in an attempt to insulate it from ground after pulling it loose.

Using two of them with a full-wave center tapped rectifier setup makes it unnecessary to take that end of the winding loose from ground.
