PRESIDENT WILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY GIVE UP YOUR CURRENT HEALTH CARE PROGRAM AND JOIN THE NEW "UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM" THAT THE REST OF US WILL BE ON ????.....OBAMA IGNORED THE QUESTION AND DIDN'T ANSWER IT!!!.....A NUMBER OF SENATORS WERE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS...WE WILL THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

IT WAS ALSO ANNOUNCED TODAY ON THE NEWS THAT THE "KENNEDY HEALTH CARE BILL"....HAS WRITTEN INTO IT THAT CONGRESS WILL BE (FROM THIS GREAT HEALTH CARE PLAN)….EXEMPT!!!!!

HOW ABOUT THOSE APPLES.....NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA OR CONGRESS.....BUT "OK" FOR THE REST OF US????????

WE....THE AMERICANS NEED TO STOP THIS ...ASAP!!!!....AND REVOLT...THIS IS WRONG!!!!!

Look, calm down, stop shouting. You can have your opinion. There will still be all sorts of preferred plans and rich people can always eschew insurance altogether and simply pay for any treatment they want as they go. Don't be jealous of rich folks. Whether they worked for it or inherited it, there will always be something of a division of wealth in even utopian societies.

For the rest of us, America languishes behind regarding health care for all of its citizens. Europe is kicking our ass in this department. A country as great as ours should see to it that its citizens are healthy. Our current system is badly broken and needs all sorts of reform. Even the insurance companies know this, see it coming, and have agreed to reforms.

Tens of millions of uninsured Americans is totally unacceptable in this century. The system must be fixed and everything costs money. And tax money will be involved. That's life. Don't wanna be taxed? Move to the moon.

Yikes! It's not a question of what Europe/Canada has and is being taxed for - at an enormous rate - I might add. It is a question of what we can - and cannot afford. That is -and will be- the issue...

What's broken - is that our representatives are trying to get more money out of us after they just sent a trillion dollars down the toilet. We can't spend what we don't have at this point.

IMO - that money for bailing out the auto industry was stolen from the American people. Now they think we a dumb enough to do it all over again. We aren't - and there isn't enough accountability in our present reps to trust them with any more money. They 'screwed the pooch' so to speak, and because of it - the health care will suffer. This translates to human suffering.
Fire them all...

One would think that someone is putting a gun to all of the heads of state - saying "Make sure this gov't fails'.

Yes, this thread is about health care and how to pay for it. Which it can't. I blame the debacle in DC with GM as to why it cannot go where it needs to now. That is an explination. I have no intention of side-stepping it. We cannot afford it now - even Obama side-stepped the same question by ignoring it when asked recently. Because he knows that it cannot happen now.

Did you watch the 'theatre' today taking place on cable TV? CSPAN had the Senate Finance Committee in fine form and drama as they pointed out that it cannot be paid for. The Senator from Tennessee made it clear that there weren't enough funds generated by some state taxes to add to the Fed fund.

Does this mean that other states will have to pay more than fair share to support other states that can't meet their own share? Not to forget - these guys are trying to devise ways to spend money that no one has so that we can go much deeper in debt. It's crazy; and they are crazy.

Once again - one cannot spend what one simply doesn't have. That means NO health care and still higher taxes. These reps should be ashamed of themelves...

To suggest something better WW - would be to fire them all and elect officials that will listen to the people - instead of telling us what we need and don't need. I need health care as much as the nexrt guy; that doesn't mean I'm entiltled to it. Canadians get marginal health care and pay through the nose for it in taxes. Best way to kill an economy while it is still trying to rise from the last fire and ashes...

The problem isn't going to go away just because the solutions are problematic. Our current system is horrible and America can surely do better. I think we need to bite the bullet and fix it now. The problems of the past can't be changed in that what has happened in other areas of government and the financial sector and the poor choices of individuals....has already happened. Leaving our crappy system the way it is is a terrible option. It's been put off too long already.

Hey I agree completely with our radio buddy Scout here. Round up every single illegal immigrant and deport them back to where they came from and keep them out.

A substantial portion of our health cares woes is the bad lifestyle choices people make themselves. The health destroying effects of tobacco and alcohol are well known and undeniable. Tax the crap out of 'em. Make cigs $10 bucks a pack. Hopefully people will quit. Jack up the tax on beer,wine and liquor.

Tax the crap out of 'em. Make cigs $10 bucks a pack. Hopefully people will quit. Jack up the tax on beer,wine and liquor.

Smokes are already around $10 a pack up here and that has not stopped anyone from smoking. They all just go to the local Native reserves and buy "illegal" tax free smokes for about 1/2 - 1/3 the regular price.

Well there will always be cheaters won't they? But to say (no one) stopped smoking because of the high price....is probably not accurate.
