has anyone tried one of the heil icm icom only mic.?? they say they are for the older pre-pro icoms with the low output front ends but will work with the newer 706 series and the 756pro series if you turn the mic gain back. i got a new 706mk2g and a 756pro2 and was looking for any feed back from anyone useing those mics on either one of these radios. thanxs.

Try this link to Heil Audio. I use a Heil IC on my 746 Pro and get get reports. Also used it on my 751 too with great reports.

You should be able to as long as you have the right adapter cable, if one is even needed at all.
I had one for a while on a 746 Pro and it worked just fine. They have very "hot" sensitivity.
You don't need much mic gain.
Really there are several electret elements out there that are just as good I think. You can brew up your own electret mic for a lot less money than the Heil. The only thing I found that was all that special about the iCM mic was that the electret element seems to have the biasing built into the element itself. I sure couldn't find a biasing resistor anywhere else inside the mic or connector
You can buy new inexpensive studio mics on Ebay that work great for the housing of a handpicked electret mic. The electret elements are very inexpensive, usually $5 or less.
I picked a couple for high sensitivity and a flat response.Panasonic had a good one.
I found I preferred to use a dynamic mic so went with a Heil PR-781. It is rather expensive too but I didn't care at the time.
It is a talk up close end fire (talk directly into the front of it) mic so doesn't pick up much background noise in the room which I have.
A visit to the Heil website should have all the info about the mics you'll need. Bob is good about answering emails too.

I also use the Heil ICM microphone on my 7300 .....
It comes with the Icom microphone connector attached to the mic. The mic cord and connector does not disconnect from the microphone.
As the model name implies, the Heil ICM is an Icom specific microphone.
On my 7300, I was using a Heil PR40, with mic gain set at 65%.
Using the ICM, my mic gain is set at 12% ......
Yes, it will connect to your 7200 .......
It seems to be a very good match for the Icom transceivers.

I have an iCM and it works great on my 7600, 781, and 7300.... you will have to make some adjustments to the tone settings on your radio though to get it to sound right, otherwise it will be pretty flat.
The PTT button on it sucks, though, but I think most people are going to key it externally anyways through a hand/foot switch or some other device, or use vox. You just hook up a switch to the quarter inch jack on the cord...

I know this post is kind of aged now, but I too am considering this mic. I have the Heil adapter cable with the 1/4 inch adapter for a foot switch, I bought it to try and run everything through a mixer but that was a fail. Squeal squalI squeal. My mics could be junk too, I recovered them from a box in the basement of our church 
. I am thinking to just get this mic and be done.
But I am curious, if I hook a foot switch up to it, does that auto bypass the PTT switch? I am ultimately looking for a hands free boom mic setup.
