Put an RFX-75 on my 29LX without the variable power mod done yet.
I had to size a resistor that is across the cap I installed where JP36 was. This let me get the DK below the recommended 15 watts.
THEN I had to adjust the variable on my 12 VDC power supply. Don't understand exactly why, but the voltage supplied to the radio has a large impact on the dead key wattage with this set up on mine. IMO it is too sensitive to the voltage supplied to it.
I'll probably end up doing the variable mod to the RF gain pot like others have done.
Rfx's are a waste of time and money IMO . A good tune from a stock 29 will hammer anything else out there throw a amp behind it as previously stated and rock on. I will not run another brand of radio other than my Brownings you could say I have a love affair lol. Buy a good mic get a good tune and good amp and antenna/coax system and do the dang thang
Coax question. I just put up a new Sirio monsoon base antenna with 100’ of rg8u coax testing with myMFJ antenna analyzer shows 1.4 swr at 26.965mhz and a 1.1 at 27.405 mhz . When I checked the ohms it’s steady a 30 ohms across the entire bandwidth.
