that is a nice option but in the truck i can really only tune in 11m and freeband. no tuner. just wilson antennas. thanks for your replys Undertaker.
This could be a bad thing if you're trying to explain how to operate it to someone who really isn't a radio guy.
this is very true. the Optima would be easier in that fact. thanks for pointing this out. although with no echo, he probably wouldnt be happy anyway. hes luck i keep a radio in the damn truck!

I ended up putting a CB in the truck. I'll keep in mind what my next radio will be but for now... The Gas Range in the kitchen died and then the Clothes dryer died the next day so, I had to keep the wife happy. No funds for playing radio. Bummer...
Oh, the joys of homeownership. My house eats a lot of funds, too.
As to the radio, I'm a little late too the party, but I probably would have stuck a Cobra 19 in the truck, and hidden a KL203 amp behind it. Let the other guy run it barefoot; can't get too much simpler that that. When it's your turn with the truck, flip the amp on. $30 radio, $70 amp. Actually, you could probably find a barely used 19 on Craigslist for about $5, lol.
