I have a CPI base station that I need to get help with. It will come on but no transmitt. Have a schematic for radio. Can anyone tell me of someone who may know more about these radios? Yes, I know it an older one, but we'd like to get someone to help with it.

Bummer. I used to live in Houston. That being said, I dunno anyone there I trust: This isn't knocking anyone, I just haven't been there in a decade.

Do NOT let a hack touch that radio. Up and running, with 100 percent functionality, those radios command a good price, and with good reason, they are GREAT radios, working.

Not working, they are a REAL PITA. About the ONLY radio that was MORE of a PITA was the ARF2001. I've had them both / all.

There is a shop outside Tyler that did good work, but again my info is 10 years old. 148 can tell you about Tyler, I believe he got farthest travelled, England to Tyler Tx for a break :)

There no longer is anyone in the Houston area that I trust. Not since Jerry Hunter went out of business last year. Hard to find someone who actually knows about these radios. I know of two of these locally that need work of some kind of another. I'll keep on searching. They guys whom own these are reluctant to letting just anyone work on them. I don't blame them either.

Old thread but I had to comment when you mentioned 148, I remember that break.
