I own two sonar FS 2340's.
I'm seriously consider selling one. The difference between the one I would like to sell and the one I would like to keep, is that the one I would like to sell has the audio Clipper/limiter board totally deleted (removed by a previous owner, and probably lying under thousands of tons of trash at some local dump.).
The one I'm going to keep has the board intact, but has been bypassed at my request during the restoration (Mike restored both.)
They both get terrific audio reports on air with an unamplified d104, and the Demco modulator. Does the one that has the audio Clipper board deleted make it any different from the one that has the board bypassed, (besides the fact it can't be put back to its original configuration unless one owns a board?)
If I had to guess I would say there is no difference. I am thinking that because of the very similar audio reports, and pep with both set at the same dead key. I do understand that the one with the bypassed board can be changed back to its original configuration hence most likely putting out less of a second harmonic or splatter then the one which has no audio clipper limiter board at all. I just want to be honest in my description. 73
