Hex antenna's

If it can survive mechanically then that is a good thing
Its winter storm season at the moment and we've had several weekends with 50+MPH winds gusting over 70 so if he is testing it it'll be getting a good workout at the moment.
 
Never said it could not be done just it would large and weak.
...or one could just make a 40m HALO above the 20. Would be only slightly larger than the 20m X-Beam element but I have no idea how they would interact. Trial & Success!
- Would be very narrow banded if you used a shunt-feed, but if you could use balanced line, that would tune the entire 40m band reasonably efficiently, however, an internal tuner thru coax would present a ton of loss.
