Was hoping someone might have some information on this amp ? Seems to work just fine on AM/SSB 11 meters . (was told it sounded very clean on SSB) I looked all over the Internet trying to find anything like it and I couldn't ? TRW transistors ? What little I do know about amps is that this one looks very well filtered ......... this was made in Escondido California by Palomar maybe late 70s early 80s ? I've seen a lot of them in my time but not this one. Any know how on this one would be much appreciated . Thanks

This is the little brother to the Palomar TX 5200 ( and 5300) multi band amp that had 4 output transistors.
The heat was being applied to the guy's down in southern california about there amps being used on class d radio service.
This was the effort to build a "legitimate" amp with a band switch.
I have a picture of them here on the forum somewhere.

Thank you Jeff for your time , any idea what kind of safe power this one should do with the 2 TRW Tranny's ? unfortunately they are hard for me to get the numbers off them , blue dot and covered as they are . I would guess 40 to 60 per ? Thanks again !
60 watts each maybe, depending on what band it is on.
Back then Palomar used different batches of transistors so you see trw, mrf, SRF whatever was cheaper when they built them.
I have never seen that model, I used to own a 5300, it was built on a much larger heatsink and the filter section was in a bigger layout.
Neat old school amp.

Was able to borrow a friends happy watt meter and check things out on a dummy load , Radio = 1980 President Grant (PC-409AC) AM was 1.5 to 14 watts or so and SSB was around 18 . The Palomar on low AM 50 to 100 Low 80 to 150 Mid and Hi 100 to around 180 or so ...........SSB was really nice , 100 watts on low , 150 on Mid and right about 200 on high .
