HIGH SWR PROTECTION?

Some amplifiers and I believe HF's have a feature that bypasses the amp in the case of high swr.
If I'm correct some if not all newer transceivers also have some type of protection in the event one's swr is too high.
My questions is what does it take swr wise for an amp or HF to completely shutting down or bypass If that's indeed what they do?

Depends on the amp or radio. Some start cutting power back with as little as a 1.5:1 or less VSWR. But I am pretty sure it depends on the type of radio or amplifier. Yes most if not all HF gear has some form of VSWR protection. Power is folded back the worse it gets until it shuts downs. I'm know there is more to it then just this, but this is a basic answer I suppose. Hope it helps some. Good day.
