I got my President Madison boxed up and sent off to LC, today. I new it wouldn't be cheap to ship, but my goodness I wasn't expecting $ 161 I thought that mask the guy at FedEx was wearing was because of this Coronavirus, but now I'm pretty sure that he was concealing his identity he may have even had a gun. If my wife ever finds out how much I'll have rapped up in this radio by the time I get it back I'm a dead man. But I'll be one happy dead man :D

I mailed my 7610 for screen replacement yesterday. I was aggravating over insurance. I went ahead and insured it for $3000. Total price to Washington State from Ohio was $127. I shipped it in same boxes DX Engineering shipped to me. OUCH! The lady at the desk said UPS would be higher. IDK if it is or not. My radio weighs way more than that Washington.

$161 seems a tad high.
Yeah I thought so too, I've never shipped anything before, believe me I'll check around for the best price next time.
I had it double boxed, but I supplied one of the boxes and the filler.

Transportation is flat expensive. Always has been. There are natural limits. Distances which preclude. Which is why allowing monopoly to exist (or the equivalent) is a sure sign things are going downhill.

It’s a handful dominate each sector; air, highway, rail, water.

Never forget the words of that nasty termite,
John D. Rockefeller, Sr:

“Competition is a sin”.

When the price of energy is such that it takes more of it to do less than it used to do, the economics of long-distance CAN’T work.

your hobby/skill can (should) become a POSSIBLE source of income.

If there are barriers locally to your doing business,
it’s why you own guns.

Powers
are reserved to, We, the People.

Prices have skyrocketed. When I was selling CB's 10 years ago I could ship a standard Cobra 29 pretty much anywhere in the US for $14-16. Occasionally I'd have a $18-$20 package. Best part were those flat rate $14 boxes, most of the smaller radio boxes would fit in those for shipping.

I have a box of 4-5 Cobra 29's/25's here I listed on Craigslist for $100 and some guy asked if I could ship and I said yeah, if you want to add $100.

I asked UPS recently about the increase and they said it was partly due to gas costs, but those have tanked so perhaps prices will come back down.

Known as collusion.

Bribed the Congress in the 1960s to allow “private enterprise” to strip the single profitable end of the business. (Wonder why it runs deficits?).

What they forgot is that the United States Post Office is provided by the Constitution of said United States.

A document NOT amended, thereby.

A service provided far more cheaply previously.

No reason not to pull the rug out from under these crooks.

You television-watchers are under the belief the Post Office is outdated & inefficient. I wonder who put that idea in your head?

The common culture of these United States was SIGNIFICANTLY enhanced by the low-cost and highly-reliable service of the USPS. (Who made that argument, and was first Postmaster General?).

Attacks didn’t cease then. And began earlier.

This is an attack on language, physical-form.
“Things” are concrete concepts, described.

The Net is neither low-cost, reliable nor subject to public scrutiny.
