Yeah, I know what you mean. But it seems people are forgetting what good audio sounded like years ago. A lot of people run way too much echo. We had d104's and was loud but today the echo and the loudness together is too much for me sometimes. Just my two cents......guess I'm old fashion. Its funny. I bought a w2IHY eq plus and hooked it up to all my rigs. I swap it back and forth from my Tram and 101E... I run a Yaesu MD200 mic on a ft1000mp and ft100d. The audio sounded great to everyone. I switch over to 11 meter AM with the same mic and eq plus. nobody liked the sound at all.. They tried to be nice but one of my friends said "it just don't sound like a CB". . . . I even turned up the reverb in the eq plus... no luck.... So now I am waiting on my modified D104 to get back from the shop and I have bought and old connex echo board that I have installed in a box. I can switch it back and forth between the Tram and the 101E. If that doesn't work, I bought a used Sadelta ME3 echo mic on Ebay yesterday.........Maybe they will be satified.
5/30/06......Just a follow up on the old Connex board I installed in its own box and running to my 101E,. . . IT sounds great. I have been told by several, even my old ham buddies that the Connex board has the best echo they ever heard. I run just a little bit only. I run the same with the Sadelta ME-3 mic too when I use it, but the old Connex board sounds better. ...Just my two cents again.
