How much money is a good SSB amp for 11 meter doing about 500-600 watts?

I would like to know if I should just buy the Ameritron ALS-500?

They run about $750-800

I can use it on the ham bands then.

I know some of these 11 meter amps say they can be used there? I mean I dont see a band switch?

you have to buy an extra kit to go with that ameritron amp for 10/11 meters . a cobra 500 is a good clean amp with filtering and does 500 watts for about $400 including shipping . the Cobra XL500 operates from 3.5 - 29.7 Mhz..
another option would be a texas star 500 (id steer clear of the 667) . you could also go with a magnaforce 600 if youre just gonna use an export/cb radio . if youre gonna do ham bands between 3.5 - 29.7 Mhz. id go with the cobra , plus it cost half of what the ameritron does . stay away from anything with a class c bias if you wanna do ssb .
dont forget.......the amp/radio is only as good as its coax and antenna .

What is the bias on the Cobra, and how does it have filtering if it does not have a band switch?
