I would like a squelch tail on my audio?

I want my radio to sound like a cops radio with that Squelch tail. The circuits are used in simplex radios, such as those typically in service with police and fire departments.

you hear it on the scanners that "chrrrrc" sound when the cops stop TX'ing.

I guess I can get a record-able roger beep and record off scanner(where to get the best?) but I know there are already made modules for other sounds, anyone know of a preprogrammed module that can be installed with the police squelch tail?

I don't know if I can answer your question but that's funny that you posted that.I thought of that about a year ago and I actually built a devise using a relay, some diods and a capacitor.I ran the actual audio output from the ext.speaker output on my base scanner fed through a resistor for the right audio input level.During tx the cap charges and when you unkey it discharges engaging the relay for a split second and sending the quick cchh into the audio feed.I got this idea after watching an episode of the dukes of hazard and was wondering why their cbs sounded like police radios.I thought it would make a cool noise toy.I would imagine they probably make something like that.Otherwise do the recordable thing.Just keep it short or it sounds stupid.Just thought I'd throw that in there.Alex.

Well it's easier now, since I got a "noise toy" box just record the sound and vola.....

and the hams won't think it's a noise toy per say! ;) Not to mention my auto CW ID'er that automatically keys when I key the mic, I may never have to Identify!(y)

Yeah we are all to stupid to realize that our radios don't normally do that.

Glad I don't get into longwinded QSO's with you. That would get real annoying in short order.

BTW I suppose you will be wanting one of these to go with that "police radio sound" too.

??? how do you figure that?? they WILL know it the first time they hear it on simplex.

FWIW: a CW id'er isn't even legal on all amateur bands:pop:
