IC 7000 HM-151 mic cable problem !

Well the mic linked above showed up from China today...

Not only is it a double RJ45, but they're wired the same at each end as mentioned above, AND it came with a genuine (I think) "Made in Japan" Icom HM-133 mic.

:thumbup:

Problem solved...

Awesome !!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Dear All,

I have a problem with the coiled cable of HM-151, Cracks started forming along the cable and the black sheath started coming out. Very strange, i did not expect this with ICOM.
Does anyone know where i can get a replacement from ?

Thank you,
VU3PYG,
Cherry
I know I'm a years late however, listen to this time traveler,, do not worry about having a broken wire on the ic-151 or any else like that because the answer is "tried & tested"and as simple as removing the offending microphone cable via the clips(done ?)
Now comes the stupidity from within the genius. No Gray matter need. Replace with a WiFi ethernet cable........ that's right change it to a new ethernet cable, cost very very little.... in fact buy two...
Sincerely Mr Algorithm esq.

Good idea in theory, but in practice it usually doesn't work very well.
This is because while some (expensive) ethernet cable has sufficient RF shielding, a lot of it doesn't. Some have very minimal shielding and the really cheap cables have almost none at all.
What this means is that while the mic might work with an ethernet cable, you will have all kinds of problems with hums, squeals and white noise when you transmit.
If it worked for you, excellent, you got lucky.

There's a reason mics use proper shielded cables and NOT ethernet cable!
