Every time a thread is locked or some form of punitive action is taken against a member for something that we don't feel is in the best interest of the site, we always get a group of people that want to be internet assholes via PM and question everything that is done. They hide behind PMs and emails and talk shit, but they would never do so in the public forum. If we kick someone off the site, everyone feels that they are entitled to explanation, even if the reason they were booted was for something that happened in private.

We try to do something nice and we still take shit for it.

I've had enough.

Voicing a concern about an issue in public and having a regular discussion is fine, but if you don't like the way the site is run don't hide behind rude PM's and talk shit.

Also concerning PM's: We don't go into anybody's private inbox and snoop. However, once you send an email, message, or letter via USPS to someone else, you no longer have any say or control over what they do with it. That's why you should consider your words before writing them. If you want to send disparaging PMs to another member, don't be surprised if your words end up biting you in the ass.

If I don't like the way a Forum is run - I sign out and move on. Thank you for the time you take to help keep this Forum running. Being a Forum monderator is a thankless job.

MOLECULO -

I think that many of us understand your frustration. When you head up a forum like this where the members are people that you never deal with face-to-face, the shit doesn't necessarily run downhill.

If it's any consolation, I for one think that this is the best forum of its type on the 'net, and it's due to the efforts of people, like you, who run it. Ignore the critics. They're a small % of the total membership here. 73s.

Keep up the good work!!! I for one know this is not easy and its extremely time consuming!!! You guys are doing great so dont let anyone throw a wrench in it. As I said before I personally would have no problem being a part of this team someday being its run the way it is!!

You are all dong great so KEEP ON KEEPIN ON!!! (y)

I'm pretty new here, but I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary in terms of moderation. If you need to close a thread, it's often because of people being unable to contain their emotions.. and it's not surprising to hear that those emotions end up leading to nasty PMs. If it were me doing the moderation, the minute I received a nasty PM it would be deleted along with all subsequent PMs from that user..

Thanks for the hard work. I appreciate your willingness to listen to the concerns expressed by the members. If you ever need to clear something up with me, simply ask for my phone #. I'll gladly answer any questions.

Hey Moleculo, I have been a member on this forum for a year and have to say that it is the best resource for ham radio and related content on the net. It is great that you and the other moderators have taken your spare time to help the hobby grow. This site is invaluable to both the new and seasoned ham operators. To be able to bounce questions off each other and get multiple responses to help solve the question is a wonderful asset. There are always a small segment of individuals that don't know how to conduct themselves. To Moleculo and all the moderators keep up the great work. I for one am truly appreciative of your hard work. (y)

Best radio forum on the internet except for a few key issues that I'll pm the admin about.....

Hello everyone,

This forum is different than other radio forums, we try to let it run about ANY radio type discussions.

Sometimes it runs off the track and we have to nudge it back into place.

I would say for the most part, our moderation is rare, but when it happens, everyone knows about it.

We get items from manufacturers not for the benefit of the owners, but for the benefit of the forum. We try to give away the stuff we are allowed to when we get it. Some things we are only allowed to review, then return.

As for that antenna I have, the 11 meter Giz, I have contacted several members prior to Marconi, feel free to reply if you were contacted by me and asked to take the antenna for review then keep it for your hard work.

Only one person accepted the offer, then I ran into a family emergency where I could not ship right away. I by no means was going to back out, i just had others things pop up that had to be done first. Believe me, I DO NOT want that antenna.

I have received a PM from marconi and he wants another person to do the review. I have no problem with that.

If you live near Chicago and you want to do a review, come get it, or wait until I can ship it if you are out of the Chicago area. But whomever takes the antenna, must write a review for this website, then it is yours to keep. Let me know.

Just remember, we can't make all the people happy all the time.

In my opinion the forum is maintained and moderated in such a way as to allow knowledge and opinions to be expressed with opposing views not only welcomed but encouraged.

This allows the facts to be separated from the bull s*$t and all who care to read the threads usually come away with a better understanding of the topic.

I am not kissing any one's backside here but it takes moderator's who are really understanding and intelligent to allow some of the threads to continue until the actual facts are obtained.

Some of the threads have got pretty heated and intense yet they were only closed after the topic was thoroughly discussed and nothing more can be obtained.

In conclusion I would like to thank all the moderators and staff on a Job well done. Yes even Mole who gave me a seven day vacation once.(y)

I've always said PM'S are only private till you hit the submit button:D

But I still say you cannot get or give antenna reports while in SSB mode.
