The guys I know who are using wide band audio are using icoms for receivers while one guy is using a 29 and another guy is using a 2000 for a transmitter.

How do they mod a 29 to pass wide band audio?

all that fun in the 70s and 80s has taken its toll on my few brain cells .
Dude, dont feel bad i did some stuff back years ago and im very certain i fried a few brain cells..:tongue:
Sorry to necro an old post... but here it goes:
This "Mauldulator" crap is just that -- crap. I have a couple of locals running that nonsense -- and let me tell you -- while they are indeed passing much more frequency response across the band, that increase sounds like complete garbage (heavy distortion in the highs and lows), and I've modded my radio for a receive upgrade). Not to mention that they're splattering across four channels.
The only folks in my neck of the woods that are broadcasting in "Broadcast Quality" are the ones that simply incorporated a studio microphone into their setup, and widened their bandwidth a tad (replacing some caps). :
As the old saying goes, sometimes less is more. If you're willing to spend a few hundred dollars to sound like over-modulated garbage over multiple frequencies, by all means tickle the Snake-Oil Salesman.
Or, you could spend a couple of hundred less and upgrade a few components and sound much better in the end.
