I'm in dire need of any service info on the Pace Sidetalk 1000B(C) 40 channel with the NDC40013 Pll in it

I have a 40 channel Pace Sidetalk 1000B(C) with the NDC49913 PLL in it,
Very mysterious set up with a separate PLL board. I have the sam's book's for each radio that uses that pll and the closest thing is the Craig L231 that i can figure out,
Now what's going on is the PLL isn't locking. I have pulled the varactor diode (CR4) and checked it and it tested as a diode with 39Pf and i don't know any other way to test a Varactor diode.
I did pull the 10Mhz xtal and it does test at 10Mhz and it oscillates on my xtal tester.
I also noticed a resistor getting so hot it's melting the srink tubing on it at R802 location.
What i need are some alignment and wiring diagram's on this radio.
Looking at the sam's info it does list a 1000MC in cb 141 and that vol has the Pace CB166 in it and that CB166 doesn't use the same PLL.
TIA

Varactor diodes don't fail all that often. When a PLL won't lock it's usually because one of its inputs is missing. A resistor that melts its plastic sleeve frequently points to a shorted zener diode in a radio that old. It's been decades since I last saw one of those. I'll see if we have any info. Not optimistic.

I have the circuit diagrams (main and pll box) and parts location drawings for both too, can scan and upload them if you can't find anything yourself. Have the owners manual too if you want it. They are in good condition so should scan up nicely.

They are for the 18 channel australian version but its identical to the usa radio except for the channel selector switch and dial.

I'd appreciate it dpssb.
You can PM them to me here, Or add them in this thread to later help a fellow out or E-Mail them to me as my profile picture has all my info in it

Thank's Nomad,
Any thing you can help me out will be nice.

Here you go, schematics, parts location drawings, and parts lists. Pace and kemtronic versions are identical except the Pace comes as a 23 or 40 channel radio and the kemtronic has only 18 channels, only difference is the dial and channel switch. A common mod in the day was to make the 18 and 23 versions into a 40, DSE (long gone except in name) used to the the sell the switch + dial as a pair for easy DIY conversion.

Admin: can you please copy this to the files / schematics section (if one exists) to help out anyone else looking for this information in the future - thanks!
