Imax 2000 outperforming Gizmotchy 3 element beam.

Here are overlays of an G3 vertical at 24' feet vs. my tuned Imax at 44' feet. I did not check these two model for accuracy, so both the gains reported could be a bit overstated.

With the difference noted by the maximum take off angle for these two, I think BJ is probably right on the mark.

That was reply perfection Kopcicle. Almost fell out of the chair. A picture is worth a thousand words........

Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words.
However

To be fair the IMax, Antron, and all their ilk are antennas.
It isn't the coverage, construction, electrical properties (local) or received signal that disturbs me. It's the nulls.

They are an effective but severely compromised antenna.
I realize that in rare cases they lend themselves to the only option.
Which is far better than none.

I personally think there is a whole lot of hogwash about some beam antennas and reality with real world operation. I found to see any real significant forward gain or signal strength gain between a 5/8ths wave vertical or comparable you have to go to 5 element beam or more I’ve played around with 2,3 & 4 element beam Antennas and a Maco V5000 and saw absolutely no difference in signal gain between the 2 3 or 4 element beam and the Maco V5000 all were at 52’ only advantage I saw was the ability to null out unwanted signals with the beam but as far as signal strength in the direction I pointed the beam VS the V5000 no difference between the 2,3and 4 element beam antennas vertically. I’m now running a Maco 5 element HV dual polarity antenna and see a 1.50 S Unit more deference in transmit and Receive with the station that’s is 70 miles away between it and the Maco V5000 with a 150 watt RCI 2970.
