Will the ground plain kit for an imax 2000 work with a A99. I have a imax kit and can make a bracket so it fit but will the radials need to be shortened?

Thanks
AP

AP, how long are the radials on the Imax GPK? I've heard they are the same length as the tip element on the A99 = 72".

Yes, mine are 72 inches. If needed I can cut them and put the black plastic cap back on.
But it looks as though I not need to. Just thought being the a99 is 18 ft instead of 21 ft I would need to cut them.

I thought about the length of the radials on the ground plane for the Imax, I thought they were 72 inches but thought I better measure them again to be sure. I guess I remembered wrong because they are 69 inches in length not 72.

AP, that is strange. However I wouldn't expect that too many folks would have a reason to measure the length of a readymade and assembled radial. I would like to know the facts if possible. I wasn't sure if the Imax GPK radials were the same as the Imax tips = 95", or if they were like the A99 tips which are 72". I sure didn't expect to find that they were shorter instead, although they could be shorter due to the size of the bracket, which obviously adds some length and could have some effect.

I bought the A99/GPK that I use secondhand. I just checked it, and the plastic tips all have "Antron" Holland, Ohio printed on them. The A99 paper work I have does not show "Antron" anywhere, but they are in Holland Ohio, so I don't have any convincing evidence who made my GPK either. I just figured that Solarcon made them. I've always heard the A99 referred to as "Antron," however.

Does your Imax GPK have a brand or manufacture noted on the parts, paperwork, or package? Do you know if your GPK is made by Solarcon or somebody else?

This has nothing to do with your question, but I'm curious about the history and construction.

I do not remember a sticker or name and addy on any part of the gp kit. I got it used without a manual for my Imax but never used it. My Imax is up without it and works great. I gave an a99 to a friend starting out and also gave the gp kit to him and am going to make it fit so he can use it on the a99.

I will get a pic or two and post it of the gp.
