Any thoughts on the stryker 955 ?? Looks kinda cool with all of the features.

Thanks for any help...

I've had mine for about 1 1/2 months. I got the radio, and had to send it back out, because it didn't work on SSB even after the shop tuned, converted and aligned.

Once I got it back I love it. I don't use the roger beeps, or the echo, so that's really extra stuff I paid for that I will never use.

This thing will put out 80-90 watts. It works outstanding on all bands, and I have made more contacts in a month than I have in probably 9 month's. On ssb I can just pick up the Mic and talk coast to coast. Of course mother nature is helping a bunch , but this rig rocks.

I have never received a report below a 5x7. Everyone always say the Audio is great. That's been said so many times, I believe it. It stays on frequency well.

I use it on 10 meters where Ham operators can be real critical of your signal/audio, and even they say it sounds great, and I'm running it mobile in my pickup.

It's a very sensitive radio on receive. The signal meter is always moving. You might not hear that signal though. The white noise is kinda loud, but you can just turn the RF gain down a tad and still receive good. It also has a High cut filter you can use and it makes the noise go away and the radio sounds like a tube rig.

I've never owned a Export radio. I've always had Cobra's. The Cobra 29 LX has been boxed up since I got the 955. I'm really enjoying this radio a lot. It gives me so many options to use.

It also has a VFO function that allows you to tune to any frequency from 26 MHz to 30 mhz. It has 10 bands of 40 channels each, and with the Vfo you can tune between those also. You could spend days tuning in different frequencies.

If your into a loud CB rig with all the bells and whistles this radio may be for you also does good on SSB with lots of channels A few friends have them and love them. I run a Galaxy DX-979 and a Kenwood TS-480.

Has anybody besides myself and m42duster actually used one of these radios? I know m42duster didn't like it, but does anybody else out there that have stated that they are junk, or overpriced crap actually have any time behind the Mic with a 955, or do you all just hate the export radio market, to the point that you will just assume it isn't a good radio?

I run one. Made my first contact with EA3AR in Barcelona on 10 meters yesterday. I just don't tell anybody that's what I'm running. I got great 5/9 signal report with clear loud audio from him. I do agree with M42duster about the adjacent channel rejection, and the receiver is noisy. I get over the last part by reducing the RF gain substantially, and am still able to hear everyone. Adjacent channel rejection is bad, when the truck drivers can bleed on me enough to keep me from hearing a station on 10 meters. I do have to say the best part of this rig is the display, the frequency stability on SSB, and the audio reports I get are always great. If they could tighten up the receiver, I think it would really be a keeper.

I bought one and it was squealing on SSB. I was ready to trade it off at truckstop cb shop but when they none for trade, I got talked into paying for an alignment. After that it works as advertised! Had great reports with the stock mic. (Wilson 5000 mobile, power was fed wirh 10g wire hot and ground directly to tha battery). As was said before Rx can be noisy. My complaint with the Rx is that it needs to be turned way up for those weak signals, then a signal slightly stronger is very overbearing. This seems to be less of a problem on SSB. Made a nice clear trip to New York from Arizona the other day. The only other complaint Ican think of at the moment is that the channel selector will sometimes skip channels.
