So I bit the bullet and bought a TR-296 with factory mic off EB.. this is to hold me over till the RCI2950CD that I just bought gets back from warranty service for a bad display..

Only mod was clarifier and it's synced up.. seller is a ham radio guy with service equipment.

He even reopened the unit and reset the AM deadkey to 1.5w for me and said it's modulating 5-7, on SSB he said 13-15w PEP on a peak reading meter..

Should be fine for my TS350 especially on SSB..

Found Workman FC-30 counter may be plug n play.. says has adder built in for radio with 10.695Mhz IF..

From TR-296 manual

From Cobra 148 book.. 7.8Mhz IF hence the need in most FC's to JP1 jumper thing..

Well the FC347 worked with the mod like a 148. I had DTB do an alignment and set my dk to 2w for AM. He also fixed the cut AMC. Radio had uppers so he added lowers for me. He also setup the FC347 and check that as well. Said radio seems very solid. Doing 15-17w on SSB and very clear and clean..

Can't wait for it to come back.

The Uniden 122XL currently on my shelf is doing very well and I was told I was dead on SSB.. (y)

So RCI2950CD (from warranty repair) and TR296 both due back this week. So now I have 3 sideband rigs.. :)
