A little update on my setup:
I picked up an rf limited 2018 mic and so far I am loving it compared to the stock mic. There has been nothing but skip during the day but from what I can get locally at night, I can get out a bit farther if not just as far as what I can receive.
The other day I rewired my radio directly to the battery in hopes of getting rid of some noise created by the car. But to no avail. I hear very little, if any change. However, I believe that my battery is nearing the end of its ability to absorb voltage spikes.
I also added a flat braided ground strap to the trunk to the body and made sure to take off the paint under the ends to ensure as good of a ground as possible. I have yet to check swr's after this change.
Any input/questions/comments/criticism are welcome and appreciated.
