Interesting illusion?

they are probably not polarized. That is easy to check as most all LCD displays are polarized. Hold the lens in front of the display and rotate them. If the display blacks out they are polarized. If not then they are not. The effect is most likely due to the refractive index of the two materials causing a scattering of the light much the same as a prism breaks white light down into the individual colors.
 
My prescription glasses have that Transitions darkening crap. When I'm outside they get pretty darn dark. I am unable to view my smartphone screen.

That sucks. The glasses dont affect my smartphone screen...BTW if i were to push on the glass on the radio or plastic headlight lenses the rainbow changes so it seems like what im seeing is stress on the plastics ???
