Iota 55 AMP Power Supply/Battery Charger

I just run the quick charge jumper. I wish there was some way to put it at like 17 volts or so, and run 2 8 volts trojan's. That'd definately give it a little more punch over 14.2. However, I have read you can change the pot by the power chord to up to close to 16 volts (high 15's).. I will be giving that a try, but I don't know how well the starduster will like it. (Already putting almost twice the rated power for a month now).

Update: 2 iota's and one 800 cca marine battery powers a 6 pill fatboy easy as pie. You could key up for a minute or two with no trouble.

Just a little update, for those who wonder what 2 iota's can do w/ a battery.

Thanks,
Josh

Just an update, ran the iota's from 14.2 to 15.0 with great results. Still on a 12 volt battery, so can't really turn it up much more than that, this was on my dad's base, and he is eventually going to get 2 8 volts so we can crank it up to 16.2-16.3 volts (max the iota appears to go).

The 6 pill is really cookin now.. these iota's never cease to impress me. Previously 2 of them and 1 marine battery powered 6 pill to 1300 steady talk, 1400 whistle. Now it is talking around 1400-1500, and whistle just past the 1500 mark with the .8 volt increase.

It really seems to pack more punch when talking, and is doing a solid 100-150 watts more on the dosy.

Mathematically I'd think a .8 volt increase on something drawing 120 amps, with efficiency considered would only gain about 80 watts.. but it really appears to be doing over 100 watts more easy.

Just an update for those who are considering running them.. I think 2 iota's with 2 trojan 8 volt batteries turned at 16.2-16.3 volts would give you a solid 1600-1700 watts peak.

Peace,
Josh
