Hi folks,
I'm new to this thread and I am on the hunt. Not long ago a came across an old JIL Cb radio. I have the antenna, an adapter box(I don't know the lingo) for the coax cable, and all the other accessories. The problem I've come across is connecting this to the cables on my car. I've included some pictures if that might help.

Thanks

image.jpg image.jpg It's a cool looking old radio. Before I start clipping wires from my car, I wanted to get some input from this group.

here is a picture of the back of the unit. it has two separate antenna plugs. One for the FM AM radio and the other for the CB antenna. It also has the microphone plug in.

This had a control handset that's what the multi pin round plug is for. Without that it's not useable.

Used to buy adapter-cable sets from a local car-stereo store.

You won't find one for the JIL, but if you can find one for a different stereo, the function of each wire is usually listed with the directions.

One difference you'll encounter is that the dashboard plug may have two wires for each speaker. It was common practice 4 decades ago for each speaker to be grounded where it was mounted, with only the "hot" side wire leading up to the dashboard. You'll end up with a bundle of "-" wires from the car's speakers all tied together to ground once it's all hooked up to this radio.

All you need now is the obscure plug with the 5 pins to fit the radio.

Might end up just cutting it off, and splicing the wires from the radio to the adapter plug that fits the dashboard.

That round plug was dirt-common in the late 1970s. You could get them from RatShack or Workman among other sources.

Not sure how many rocks you need to turn over before you'll find one now.
