Jo Gunn 8+8 "Killer Star" Gizmotchy Style.

What do you guys think about this antenna?

I don't read much into the "specs" ("audio gain") and some values seem off.
Besides the marketing and fake or wrong gain figures, what do you think?

It almost looks like an 8 element Gizmotchy, an "extreme gizmotchy".

I guess some big stations have ran these in the past, anyone got any first had experience with such an antenna, or somethin' similar?

Going to set it about 12 feet in the air, positioned static.. until I can get a tower, rotor etc. together.

Jo Gunns are built like a tank...and weigh just about as much as a tank! (cost about as much as a good used Tank too)

Gizmatchy's are light weight, cost less, but don't like high winds...local here had a 6 element that would drop elements everytime a strong thunderstorm rolled threw...But he really liked the thing...

I've heard that also. They probably work fine but don't live up to the creative advertising.

The Jo Gunn's specs say 73 pounds.

You'll need a thrust bearing to take that weight off the rotator.

Or maybe weld the rear end of a junked pickup truck to the tower and hang a motor on the driveshaft.

What do you mean by that? There is left hand circular and right hand circular polarization. They are usually used on VHF/UHF for space communications however but the principle works on any band. It has to do with rotating the polarization in either a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion.

That was a C/P from the Gizmotchy site... they seem to think that just feeding a verticle element and a horiz element simultaneously results in circular polarization.
