just picked up a shure 444

no there not power mic's. One of my all time fav's is a Shure 526-T but it's a power mic.(they don't make them anymore) Would sound awesome on some radios and shitty on others. I never personally used a 444 other then knowing it is not a power mic.

Those are really bulletproof.

I just picked up a pair of 522's from ebay not long ago. Similar looking mic but with a wide range response and a narrow cardioid pattern.

The 444 should have a sharper audio quality to it.

Did Shure make a 444 for Johnson? I have a desk mike EXACTLY like the one pictured in the link above and it came from a Johnson VHF business radio and I am positive it has the name Johnson on the mike base.I'll have to dig it out and check.

for any of ya'll that used the 444, i understand its only 3wires in the cord, black (hot), white (ext. relay), and a shield (according to shure tech support). how would I go about wiring this up to my washington (5 pin cobra)???

Shure made mics for Johnson and GE business band radios, and when impedance-matched to your radio using the appropriate audio transformer, all of them sound great.
